UPDATE - 8.58 am IST (3.28 am GMT) - Right then, we have official news on the restart. The match will restart at 9.15 am IST (3.45 am GMT) but it will be a 17-over chase for South Africa. The target will be 123 according to DLS and this could really turn out to be a humdinger of a game. Grab a cup of coffee and join us soon for all the action.

UPDATE - 8.51 am IST (3.21 am GMT) - The rain stopped a while back but there is no word yet on the restart and that is due to a puddle that formed inside the 30-yard circle. Also, we should be starting to lose overs now as well which is never a good sign. Let's hope that we do get a start time soon, stay tuned.

UPDATE - 8.29 am IST (2.59 am GMT) - There is some good news from the ground as the rain has stopped and the covers are starting to come off. The ground staff will now get going and hopefully, the ground can get ready soon for a restart. The drainage is pretty good at this venue and the umpires can be seen chatting with the ground staff as well. Stay tuned as we should have official word regarding the restart soon. Also, the latest the play can start to constitute a five-overs game is 10.08 am IST (4.38 am GMT) which is still more than an hour and a half away.

UPDATE - 8.18 am IST (2.48 am GMT) - It is still pouring down in Antigua and the pitch and the squares are all firmly under covers. However, the outfield will take a lot of water given the rain but hopefully, it subsides and we can get the ground ready for play again. There is a buffer of about 90 minutes before we start losing overs, so, the question of the game getting washed out is still a fair bit away. Stick around as we might get some news from the ground soon.

UPDATE - 8.01 am IST (2.31 am GMT) - Uh, oh! Just as Tristan Stubbs was walking out to bat, a sudden rain shower has arrived along with a sturdy breeze. The rain has gotten heavier and we might be in for a bit of a delay. It wouldn't be a do-or-die game for South Africa in a World Cup clash without some rain, would it? Reeza Hendricks misses the flick and the ball goes past the pads straight into the gloves of Nicholas Pooran who appeals for a catch but is turned down. OUT! RUN OUT! What a moment this could be in the context of the game and Andre Russell cannot believe it. The umpires take it upstairs to see if the catch was cleanly taken and the replay suggests the fingers were underneath the ball and the catch is cleanly taken.

Is that a fair catch? It seems to be a sharp low catch at first slip and Sherfane Rutherford has started walking but the umpires just want to be sure. Aiden Markram is the man who took the catch and the third umpire is having a look at it by zooming in. Fingers clearly under the ball and OUT comes up on the screen.

OUCH! That must've hurt. A collision between Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada as they both go for the same catch towards the boundary down the ground. Marco Jansen looks to have come out worse from this collision. The players are being treated by the medical staff of South Africa. Both the fielders had their eyes set on the ball and a lack of communication has caused such an incident. Ryan Rickelton has taken the field replacing Marco Jansen and let's hope it isn't that serious.

SIX! Oh, dear! That could be a very nasty collision! Neither Marco Jansen nor Kagiso Rabada quite called for the catch and have ended up barging into each other on the edge of the straight boundary and Jansen seems to have come out way worse than KG who is back on his feet. This was floated up full and on middle, Kyle Mayers got under it and lifted it straight back over the bowler's head. Both fielders from long off and long on ran towards it and neither stepped on the brakes and ended up colliding as the ball just sailed over for a six.

OUT! CAUGHT! What a masterstroke from Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran has fallen into the trap right away. Markram comes from around the wicket and tosses it full and wide of the off stump. Pooran tries to put the part-timer under pressure and dances down the track to go big. However, he has to reach for it and ends up lifting it high and wide of long off where Marco Jansen settles under it and takes a fine catch. West Indies in early trouble here.

Buzzers! West Indies are off the mark! Pitched up again on the stumps, Kyle Mayers pushes it straight back with a straight bat and Marco gets a hand on it. Kyle wants the single but is sent back and the fielder scores a direct hit at the batter's end. The ball defelcts away and Mayers picks up a single.

We aren't that far away from the start of this virtual quarterfinal but first, the great man himself, Sir Vivian Richards walks out with the coveted trophy and places it on the podium. Next, the officials make their way out to the middle followed by the two sets of players who will lineup for their respective national anthems. It will be the national anthem of South Africa first followed by that of West Indies.

PITCH REPORT - Shaun Pollock is pitchside. Adds that the breeze will be a factor and it is a 74-meter downtown boundary. Mentions that on one side there is a small boundary but the batter will have to hit against the wind which will make it interesting. Samuel Badree joins him and says that of all the venues, this has produced the most bounce and reckons that bashing it into the surface will be something that the pacers will look to exploit but there will be runs on offer.

The skipper of West Indies, Rovman Powell says they were looking to bowl as well but this allows the batters to bat well and post a good total on board. Adds that he is backing his side to adapt to the conditions here and perform well today Informs that they have one change as Kyle Mayers replaces Johnson Charles.

The skipper of South Africa, Aiden Markram says that they will bowl first and hopes that the wicket will get better later on and want to make use of the early conditions. Adds that they have been playing decent cricket and hope to play enough good cricket to get through tonight. Mentions that there is a strong breeze but it is generally a good batting wicket and informs that Tabraiz Shamsi is back in for Ottneil Baartman.

South Africa on the other hand is one of the two sides yet to be beaten in this tournament. Despite having won all the games so far they are just one defeat away from elimination from the T20 World Cup. The narrow victories left them with an inferior NRR to the West Indies and England. The side currently sits second but a defeat today would drag them down to third despite having the same points as their opponents for the day. The side did brilliantly to win their last game against England from a situation where they were down and out. The bowlers have been superb for them with Kagiso Rabada leading the pack. Anrich Nortje has done well too. The batting has revolved around an in-form Quinton de Kock but the rest of the batters have to take responsibility and turn up good on the big occasion before it gets too late for them. Both sides have quality players and serial match-winners from top to bottom but which side continues to challenge for the silverware and whose tournament will come to a close today? They were undefeated in the initial group stage but were handed a defeat at the hands of England in their first game of the Super 8s but they are walking into this game with a win under their belt as they crushed USA in their previous game. The side has some sensational power-hitters along with an abundance of match-winners at their disposal. Kyle Mayers has replaced Brandon King in the squad. Brandon King suffered a side strain while batting against England. The Windies had a commanding victory over USA in their last game. Shai Hope was simply sensational with the bat while it was the bowlers that did the job for them. Windies have a side capable of bulldozing any side on their day and they have played some good cricket in this campaign and would be hoping to come up good against the Proteas and advance to the semis.

A huge match beckons in the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024 as co-hosts West Indies take on South Africa in Match 10 of this stage of the competition at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. With qualification for the semifinals on the line, hosts West Indies will be itching to get a win in the final match in Group 2 and round off a sensational comeback. The Windies started the Super Eight phase with quite a demoralizing loss against England. However, they bounced back in fine style against co-hosts USA and bolstered their net run rate with a humongous win. On the other hand, South Africa have not just been spotless in the Super Eight phase but also in the whole tournament and yet, a loss here might see them dumped out of the competition if England get a big win against USA as well. The Proteas won a crucial game against England last time around but could have done with a more clinical showing against USA that would have seen them well ahead on the net run rate part as well. But they do have only wins against their name so far and will be highly confident to silence the home crowd and send West Indies out of the competition. Talking about West Indies a a bit more, they faltered with the bat in the second half of their innings against England and were then put to the sword by the opposition batters in the field as well but this wasn't the case against USA in their previous game. After bundling out USA for 128 runs thanks to some sensational bowling from the likes of Andre Russell and Roston Chase who picked up three wickets each, the batters went into overdrive from the word go and chased down the target in just 11 overs and Shai Hope made an unreal 82 not out off just 39 balls. That win certainly boosted their net run rate a lot and a win against the Proteas even by the barest of margins will be enough for them to make it through to the last four. They have the team and on their day, they can out-hit any opposition in the world but consistency is the name of the game at the moment. South Africa came into the Super Eight phase on the back of four wins out of four but three of those wins were quite close encounters and then in their first game against USA, they almost ended up letting it slip. However, they won the game and against England as well, they were able to turn the tide in the final couple of overs after having let it slip with the ball once again. Generally, the Proteas get a few easy wins against most sides but when it matters most, they get into their shell but this time, it seems that they are able to play the big occasions much better and that might be a big factor heading into this game. Can South Africa keep churning out those gritty wins and move into the semifinals with an unblemished record? Or will West Indies undo all their hard work and dump them out of the competition? Only time will tell.
